Ethical Code of Conduct
We at Spiritual Awakening Support certify that as professional spiritual practitioners, we proudly honour the code of ethical principles as set forth and outlined below on behalf of all clients, personnel and professionals with whom we work:
Age of Legal Capacity: Personal consultations and paid materials are available only to those above the legal age limit. In Scotland, 16 is the age of legal capacity (Age of Legal Capacity (Scotland) Act 1991).
Confidentiality: A client's trust is highly valued and everything shared within the client-practitioner sphere is kept strictly confidential. It is ethical to disclose confidential information only when the client consents to it, or when there is a real and imminent threat of harm to the client or to others, and this threat can be only diffused by a breach of confidentiality. When it is necessary to communicate with colleagues who are involved in the care of the same individual, any communication will respect confidentiality and we will convey only the necessary information.
Respect of Rights: We respect the rights and preferences of our clients, students and spiritual colleagues. We also agree to respect a person's right to refuse or accept help on their own terms and will never force a reading, a message, opinions, or lifestyle modes on those who choose to withhold.
Do No Harm: We acknowledge that Spirit has gifted our abilities to use only in serving the highest and greatest good of all involved. We also understand that these gifts can be withdrawn by Spirit should we use our gifts with an ill will. Therefore, our gifts are intended solely for healing, helping and supporting others and we strive to always use our resources appropriately, in the best way possible, and only in benefit of the highest good of all concerned.
Withhold Judgement: Everyone has a rich tapestry of experience and it is not our right to judge another person, or their actions, as ‘wrong or bad’. We will not allow our own judgment to be influenced by personal profit, unfair discrimination, or our own emotions. We will only provide spiritual services when we feel we can do so as an unbiased and clear vessel.
Colleagues: A spiritual professional never undermines other colleagues in order to attract their own clients and only behaves towards his/her colleagues as they would wish them to behave towards him/her. We will abide by this honour code.
Approach to Readings for Clients
We always ask Spirit that the readings we do, whatever the divination method, will always be for the highest good of the client. We will only undertake a reading if we have your permission to do one on your behalf. This allows us to be able to interact with your guides to co-create the reading.
We are not ‘fortune telling’: We do not ‘predict’ the future. Our philosophy is that readings we do, using Tarot cards or other forms of divination, is not fortune telling. It is tuning into the querent’s current energies to see what influences from their past are still in play, where they stand currently, and what potential patterns may play out in the future. However, the person always remain sovereign and has free will to accept the advice or change the outcome. The future is not written in stone, it is shaped by the individual, who always retains sovereignty and free will.
We will not answer ‘is this going to happen – yes or no?’ questions: This is an extension of the above ‘fortune telling’ point. In our experience, asking this type of question is unreliable because, even if the energies at the particular point in time of the reading look favourable and the cards give a positive answer, there is still the potential for the free will of someone in the process to change their mind and affect that outcome. We would not like to mislead anyone, because there is no guarantee, as the future is always unfolding. Therefore, we do not answer these types of questions and redirect the client to something more empowering and that is within their control.
We will not undertake third party readings. Doing 3rd party readings do not really work and are unethical. It is possible to tap into someone’s field and see the energies at play and the patterns unfolding – but the 3rd party’s privacy would have been violated and the information given to someone else – maybe someone whom that party wouldn’t want to have that information. If you wish to ask about someone else – we will ask you to change it round so that it focuses on empowering the querent themselves – e.g. change ‘how long will this crisis last for X’ to ‘how can I best support X through this crisis?’
